January / February American South East Improv Tour of K-12 Schools
Improv 4 Teens heads south this winter. Party inspired by the weather this past winter and calls from colleges and K-12 schools in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. In the past 12 months we have presented over 600 shows for K-12 / Family Audiences at our NYC theater and touring nationwide...
Check out the reasons to bring this program to your school at http://teenimprov.blogspot.com/p/teen-outreach-programs.html
Improv 4 Teens (Improv 4 Kids Grades K-5) is the perfect show in school, after school and for evening events - PTA nights, fundraisers, drama department events etc. At many high schools we partner with the local student Improv team for a great show. In many districts we will play to the grade, middle and high school in one day, off setting the cost of a professional show out of NYC over 2-4 schools/day.
Not just a cultural arts presentation, this show has been presented via Language Arts Departments, Counseling, PTA / PTO / PTSA, and Drama / Fine Arts. One of the most fun you and your students will ever have, Improv shows & workshops provides a wealth of educational value.

It has been hard to focus on Kimye and Bey-Z strife while fielding real life drama issues such as Ferguson, Mo protests and rioting, War in Gaza and Ukraine and Mexican Border. But this is the cast to handle it all. Add in some Justin Bieber underwear ads and there is no shortage of topical material to lampoon these days. No two shows are never the same as music, sketch and interactive games are created on the spot "Whose Line IS It Anyway"-style based on audience suggestions and participation.

RESIDENCIES
We have teachers all over the area every week providing 10-30 students training in Improv Comedy. These students really become leaders at the school. Many big personalities need to find focus. But when they do, they are instoppable in the best possible way. At the end of each 6-15 week session the students are ready to perform a showcase at school. But far more than that they become class/school leaders and better students. They learn how to listen, create and process information. They engage in current events and the worlds. They face their fears and inhibitions and turn weaknesses into strengths. Some of our high school students have become interns and even full time professional company members. One of these students,. Bandon Ford (Queens Prep Academy) got a job teaching theater at a summer camp this year. Another, Noel Olivencia (Prep Academy for Writers) is now managing a food service business AND has appeared on MTV.
We have current and past residencies at the following...
NEST+m Manhattan
The Summit School
JCC Manhattan
Queens Prep Academy
Flushing High School
Prep Academy for Writers
Renaisance High School (Harlem)
Gilda's Club Camp Sparkle
Broadway Comedy Club public classes for Kids and Teens
Don't take our word for it...
Regarding shows, workshops and residencies - Lisa Palotti (Speech Teacher) to John Renner (Principal) from Summit School Queens
"Here's my report: OMG it was awesome! Truly one of the best activities I've ever seen take place here at Summit! We gave them a very large group of kids to work with, and they handled them wonderfully. The way that they related to the kids was terrific, and the activities they led worked on so many pragmatic language skills in SUCH an effective way, including increasing the kids' awareness of their bodies in space, body proximity, eye contact, voice, and generally how others perceive them from their non-verbal cues. They also did word association and one-word stories that involved verbal expression and required kids to follow a story line. Almost all of the kids looked like they were having a fantastic time, and it was an activity where the shy kids could get to interact with others in a very structured (hence comfortable) way. At the end I spoke to the three members of the improv group and raved about how great they were and told them the specific ways that the activities helped our students. They asked me a number of questions, such as regarding how to handle various students' behaviors, and we talked about upcoming activities."
